A: There are protections in the form of the Parental Kidnaping and Prevention Act, and the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act; these are meant to protect a child from being taken to another state, and from forum shopping, and for other reasons, like not allowing the child to be taken from one state to the other without the other parent’s consent or knowledge, without consequences.
